BRIEF CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

BEGINNING CLASS:
The beginning class has a great emphasis on proper tool sharpening as well as learning to draw scrolls for silver engraving and for gun engraving (two different concepts.)  Flower designs along with several center techniques and varied leaf designs are also presented.  Sound layout principals, transferring patterns, and proper cutting procedures are all taught in the beginning class.

INTERMEDIATE CLASS:
Our intermediate classes cover seven ways to fill a scroll for silver engravers, and several different styles of gun engraving scrolls.  Advanced layout techniques using crossovers, the loop, the rollout and many others will be presented.  Intermediate students will be taught several border techniques including the "nick & dot", "flashcut", and "the running leaf".  This class also has discussions and demonstrations on fabrication and finishing.  Basic inlaying and overlaying techniques are presented as well as soldering and simple stone setting.
